Tempered Glass

Tempered glass is a type of safety glass that is made more resistant by heat treatment and breaks into small, harmless pieces when broken. This glass has higher mechanical and thermal resistance than regular glass and increases the safety of buildings and people.

Production and Strengthening Process

  • Heating: The glass is heated to a temperature of about 650-700 degrees Celsius.
  • Rapid cooling: Immediately after heating, the glass is cooled with a jet of cold air from both sides, creating compressive stress.
  • Creating compressive stress: The outer layers are under pressure and the inner layers are stretched, which increases the mechanical strength of the glass.

  • High mechanical strength: 4 to 5 times that of ordinary glass.
  • High thermal resistance: Withstands sudden temperature changes of up to about 200 degrees Celsius.
